MY MAKEUP PRODUCTS - WHAT DO THEY CONTAIN?

The Future of Makeup

I have gone through my makeup products, scoured the internet and checked regulatory authorities to see what my products contain. I want to offer my clients the choice in products not because ethical beauty is a buzz word right now, but because you should know what is being applied to your face. You may also suffer from allergies to some makeup products and struggle to find makeup for your skin.

To my surprise some of the major brands claim to be cruelty free but allow their products to be sold in China where animal testing is obligatory. I do use a wide range of brands and if they are not listed below does not mean I do not use them, for example you may not see NARS, or MAC listed much below. I have only listed products below that fit within the following categories that I use.

LANOLIN

The use of lanolin in products Lanolin and its related ingredients moisturize the skin, hair and nails. These ingredients act as a lubricants on the skin surface, which gives the skin a soft, smooth appearance. Lanolin helps to form emulsions and blends well with nearly all other substances used in cosmetics and personal care products. Lanolin also possesses adhesive characteristics. Lanolin is derived from the sheep sebaceous gland. The raw material isolated from sheep's wool. Some people are allergic to Lanolin. I have a broad range of products that are Lanolin free

PARABENS

Parabens are the most widely used preservatives in personal care products. Parabens stop fungus, bacteria and other microbes from growing in your favourite creams and makeup, especially in the moist, warm environment of a bathroom. Yet there is much discussion regarding the links to cancer and parabens in Cosmetics

VEGAN

A product that is vegan does not contain any animal ingredients or animal derived ingredients. This includes, but is not limited to, honey, beeswax, lanolin, collagen, albumen, carmine, cholesterol, gelatin, and many others. To many the term “vegan” also means that a product is free from animal testing as well

CRUELTY FREE

In the animal rights movement, cruelty-free is a label for products that do not harm or kill animals. Products tested on animals are not considered cruelty-free, since these tests are often painful and cause the suffering and death of millions of animals every year.
